Illustration over a photo I took of a home on Elephantine Island, Aswan, Egypt. The population is Nubian, some of the most beautiful and resilient people I've ever met. It was an interesting study, to walk on ground strewn with trash. To me, it was front and center. To them, it just WAS. Every place there looked abandoned, but was very much alive with residents. And behind the doors? The most amazing people and incredible food.
